Arakan Army’s terrorist designation revoked
Published 11 March 2021

Arakan Army (AA) has been withdrawn from its listing as a terrorist group, according to the order issued by the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee on March 11.

The committee issued this order with the approval of the State Administration Council in exercising the Anti-Terrorism Law Section 6(c) and Section 72 (b).

The United League of Arakan (ULA)/Arakan Army (AA) was declared as a terrorist group with Order No (1/2020) on 23 March 2020.

The order cited the reason for the revocation of AA’s terrorist designation as it no longer commits any terrorist acts and so, the State Administration Council withdrew the declaration as a terrorist group starting 11 March 2021 to establish an eternal peace in accordance with the five future work plans and nine objectives of the Council.
