ANP wins election in Rakhine’s townships of Manaung and Taungup where NLD won in 2015

The Arakan National Party (ANP) has won the election in Manaung and Taungup townships of Rakhine State where the National League for Democracy won the 2015 election, according to initial local sources.

Although there is no confirmation yet about the voting results as the ballot papers from some polling station have not reached the township election sub-commission, initial results show that the ANP is winning the election in all State Parliament (1), State Parliament (2), Lower House and Upper House constituencies in Manaung Township.

Moreover, the ANP has won all the constituencies of Taungup Township except State Parliament Constituency (1) where the election did not take place.    

The NLD won the 2015 election in the townships of Gwa, Thandwe, Taungup and Manaung in Rakhine State.

The ANP is also winning in Sittway and Yanbyew townships while Arakan Front Party is winning in Kyaukphyu Township.

Likewise, the Union Solidarity and Development Party is winning in An Township.
