Air KBZ, a domestic airline, has changed its name to Mingala Airlines from January 6, sources said.

It is reported that Air KBZ Airlines is flying 13 domestic flights in Myanmar, and will continue to fly the current flights after changing its name to Mingala Airlines.

Mingala Airlines will change its name to Mingala Aviation Services (Mingala) Airlines starting from January 6, 2024 and will continue to fly flights, the airline's official Facebook page announced.

"Air KBZ Airlines will be renamed to Mingala Aviation Services and will fly flights. At the current airports, we are going through the process of changing the name of the airline," said a spokesperson of Mingala Aviation Services to The Daily Eleven newspaper on January 8.

It is reported that Mingala Aviation Services Co., Ltd. was allowed to operate the air transportation business, which only the government has the right to operate, according to the Gazette of the Republic of Myanmar announced on September 29, 2023.

It is reported that the Union Government has issued this notification in exercise of the authority granted under Section 4 of the Law on State-Owned Business Enterprises. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has been given authority to supervise the work.

MAI and Air KBZ, two domestic airlines owned by Myanmar nationals, fly domestic and international flights. Currently, MAI Airlines has 15 foreign flights, 13 domestic flights and Air KBZ operates 13 domestic flights.

Currently, instead of Air KBZ, domestic flights will be operated under the name of Mingala Airlines.
