Eight more people returning from UAE and Japan have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in Myanmar to 369, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported at 8 pm on August 13.
A total of 1,355 Covid-19 samples were tested on August 13 – 626 (first batch) by the National Health Laboratory, 296 by the Department of Medical Research, 177 by the Public Health Laboratory (Mandalay) and 256 by the Public Health Laboratory (Mawlamyine). And among them, eight cases were reported.
Moreover, 321 Covid-19 patients have recovered and 312 of them have been discharged from hospital.
NHL (Yangon) also tested 496 samples in the second batch for August 13 and the ministry reported this morning that there was no further case. Therefore, a total of 1,851 samples were tested for the whole August 13 and eight cases were reported.
Myanmar has so far seen 369 Covid-19 cases, 321 recoveries and six deaths.
This month, Covid-19 testing will be extended to 26 districts across the country with the use of GeneXpert machines.
