Myanmar saw 5,497 new Covid-19 cases in a single day after a total samples of 14,052 had been tested from July 16 at 8:00 pm to July 17 at 8:00 pm, with 39.12 percent infection rate, the ministry of health and sports reported at 8pm news hours of July 17.
Moreover, 233 deaths were reported on that day bringing the death toll to 4,769 since the outbreak.
A total of 2,957,514 Covid-19 samples were tested and 224,236 cases reported till July 17. On the same day, 3,010 patients were discharged after their recoveries, bringing the total number patients discharged to 158,969.
On July 17, the labs run by the ministry reported of 227 cases of 507 samples tested; the hospitals in various regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw 37 cases of 53 samples, No (1) Defence Services Hospital in Yangon 485 cases of 900 samples; No (1) Defence Services Hospital in PyinOoLwin 4 cases of 30 samples; No (9) Defence Services Hospital in Lashio 122 cases of 421 samples; Military Mobile PCR Team all cases of 92 samples; private hospitals 138 cases of 597 samples; hospitals in various regions and states 1,051 cases of 2,004 samples; and public health departments 3,341 cases of 9,448 samples.
