4,980 new Covid-19 cases, 365 deaths reported in Myanmar

Myanmar has reported 4,980 new Covid-19 cases and 365 deaths, the ministry of health and sports reported at 8pm news hour of July 28.

The news cases were found after 13,763 samples had been tested from July 27th at 8:00 pm to July 28th at 8:00 pm.

Since the first wave till July 28, 3,116,451 lab samples were tested, 284,099 cases reported and 8,210 dead.

On the same day, 3,584 patients were discharged from hospitals bringing the total number of those discharged to 197,994.

Covid-19 swab tests are being carried out by the laboratories of the ministry of health and sports, public hospitals in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, regions and states with the use of GeneXpert machines, No (1) Defence Services Hospital (1,000-bed) in Yangon, No (2) Defence Services Hospital (1,000-bed) in Nay Pyi Taw, No (1) Defence Services Hospital (700-bed) in PyinOoLwin, No (9) Defence Services Hospital (100-bed) in Lashio, the military mobile PCT team in Kalay, private hospitals and labs and hospitals and public health departments in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, regions and states with the use of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Test.  

As Covid-19 cases surge in Myanmar in the third wave of the outbreak, up to 98 townships had been declared as stay-at-home towns till July 28.
