A total of 21 Myanmar migrants, victims of human trafficking, are taking shelter at a resettlement camp in Thailand, according to the office of Myanmar labour attaché in the country.

Myanmar labour attaché went to meet them at the resettlement camp in Surat, Surat Thani province. Five of them were sent back to Myanmar on October 16 after confirmation that their documents were authentic.

Most of them are sent through Dawei-Htikhi-Kanchanaburi or Kawthoung-Ranong or Myeik-Pakyut routes by human traffickers to work in Malaysia.

The trafficked victims were used to live in Nay Pyi Taw, Tatkon, Bago, Kyaukkyi, Dawei and Taninthayi.

Myanmar embassy and the office of Myanmar labour attaché will continue to investigate into the traffickers and keep up efforts to rescue Myanmar migrants and bring them home.

The office of Myanmar labour attaché urged Myanmar workers to seek employment in other countries only under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement and government to government scheme (G to G).
