15 human trafficking cases reported in January

In late January, 15 reported human trafficking cases were reported nationwide, according to the Anti-Human Trafficking Police. 

There were 27 trafficked victims—10 males and 14 females—including three children. The police detained 28 traffickers—11 males and 17 females. 

The total number of reported cases reached 15—three each in Ayeyawady, Shan and Kachin, two each in Mandalay and Yangon and one each in Bago and Nay Pyi Taw. 

The reported human trafficking cases are: 10 forced marriages with Chinese men, one overseas forced labour and four forced labour in the country.

In 2019, there were 239 reported human trafficking cases including 196 forced marriages in China, 732 culprits and 358 human trafficking victims, according to the Anti-Human Trafficking Police. 

Shan and Yangon topped the list of human trafficking cases with 65 each, followed by Mandalay and Ayeyawady with 28 each, Kachin with 25, Bago with 12, Mon with four, Sagaing and Kayin with three each, Nay Pyi Taw and Taninthayi with two each and Magway and Chin with one each.
