One person in lockup at the Demoso Police Station , Kayah State, was found to have been infected with COVID-19 virus, two officers and policemen from the station , totalling 14 were placed in Home Quarantine on 16th  January.     

The General Administrations Officer of Demoso township said that members of the police force were placed under Home Quarantine. They consisted of one police inspector,  one deputy inspector and the remaining policemen.Contacts persons from Dawbunganye of the prison have been summoned as well.  

The prisoner, a 34 years old man, was taken by the police after he had banged into a woman who was crossing the road at about 3.15 pm on 15th  Jan. near Sanpya 6th mile village. With the Test Kit he was tested and was found to have been infected.      

Prior to being called away by the police the prisoner was kept under the custody of the village administrative officers, and about 30 villagers from Dawbunganye had had contact with the prisoner while in custody. These villagers were instructed to stay in accordance with disciplinary measures.   

Village elder U Lionel said that it was a matter of concern. As it was a fearful disease it seemed that the entire village  might have to go into quarantine. As there were 20 to 30 persons in the room discussing. It was not certain whether all would have to stay in quarantine.

The infected prisoner had a record of having traveled to Southern Shan State. At the moment he was being treated at Demoso township hospital in a separate ward. Three family members living together with him were kept in Education College CBFQ, and three persons that had had contact with him were kept at Demoso Agricultural Science CBFQ to undergo tests.
