11th Mon Youth Day commemoration ceremony held at Wezin camp controlled by NMSP

The 11th Mon Youth Day commemoration ceremony was held on the morning of December 28 at Wezin Camp, Dawei District, a controlled area of New Mon State Party (NMSP) in Yay Township, Mon State.

At the Mon Youth Day ceremony, the Mon youth took a place in front of the stage where the ceremony was held in a military formation and held flag raising ceremony. The members of the chair made speeches and read the messages sent to the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the NMS, Nai Hong Sar, and members of the Central Committee of the NMS, representatives from the Mon Unity Party, representatives from Mon civil society organizations, representatives from various Mon people's youth organizations, Mon youths from states and regions such as Mon and Kayin states and Tanintharyi Region and locals.

The Mon Youth Day commemoration ceremony was held in Dawei District, Yay Township, which is controlled by the NMSP, due to the security situation, said Min Soe Myint, spokesperson of the Mon United Front - MUF.

They are celebrating the Mon Youth Day to pay respect to the Mon leaders who have fought for the rights of the Mon people throughout the ages, to gather Mon youths together in the situation that is happening in the country at present, to give a message to the youths about the history and traditions of the Mon ethnic group, and mainly to achieve mutual love and friendship among the youths, Min Soe Myint said.

On December 28, 1946, educated Mon youths started to form a youth organization and held a Mon youth gathering. After the conference was held, efforts were made to achieve equality and self-determination as a result of the conference, and celebrations were held as Mon Youth Day on December 28, when the Mon Youth Conference was first held. The 10th Mon Youth Day celebration was held briefly on December 28, 2021 at the Ramayana Buddhist University campus in Mawlamyine.
