There had been 96 Covid-19 patients in hospital and 11 deaths till December 20 in Linkhay Township, southern Shan State, according to Linkhay Township Health Department.

Linkhay is the most affected township in southern Shan State. In the entire Myanmar, Linkhay and Taunggyi townships have seen most Covid cases.  

On December 20, 171 lab samples were tested in Linkhay and seven cases were detected accounting for 4.1% positivity rate.

The township reported up to 1,383 cases, 1,276 recoveries and 11 deaths from July 19 to December 20 this year. The dead were three women and eight men.

A total of 21 people tested positive for Covid-19 on December 19 alone in Linkhay. A record high was reported on November 26 with over 100 cases, followed by 32 on December 9 and 29 on December 10.

However, positivity rate is declining gradually now, the health department reported.
