According to a report by the Thai news agency Khaosod English, authorities in Chon Buri District, Thailand, have arrested 10 Myanmar nationals and 5 Chinese individuals for possessing unlicensed ammunition.
The arrests were made on Saturday, June 28, in a joint operation by Thailand’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ACTPD), police officers, and officials from the Department of Employment. The suspects were detained on charges of illegal possession of ammunition.
The arrests took place in factories within Chon Buri District. Authorities seized various types of ammunition, including 7 rounds of .22 caliber bullets, 26 rounds found inside a plastic container, 21 rounds of .40 caliber bullets, 21 rounds of 9mm bullets, 17 rounds of .45 caliber bullets and 135 rounds of unspecified caliber.
Some of those arrested were found without valid identification documents. Reports indicate that some suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended and later taken to the Bang Bua Police Station in Chon Buri District.
The arrests were part of an inspection campaign targeting high-risk buildings suspected of involvement in forced labour and human trafficking. The locations raided were believed to be sites where forced labor and worker exploitation were taking place.
