Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo met with emergency assistance and rescue teams in Dawei on October 1 to discuss search-and-rescue operations for people affected by flooding and landslides in the region.
The emergency response teams had arrived in Tanintharyi Region to provide assistance in response to natural disasters occurring in Launglon and Thayetchaung townships.
Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo and members of the regional government visited the Zambuthiri Emergency Assistance and Rescue Team office in Dawei, where they met with rescue teams from nearby and other areas.
During the meeting, they discussed search-and-rescue operations for residents affected by flooding and landslides, emergency assistance for patients, and relief and support activities. The regional government also coordinated the necessary measures with the rescue teams to facilitate their emergency response efforts.
Social organizations and aid workers from Mon, Karen, Yangon and other regions have arrived at the disaster-stricken areas, but relief teams from Myeik, Bok Ping and Kawthaung districts in southern Myanmar are unable to reach them due to floods and landslides.
