More than 5.2 million stimulant tablets worth an estimated 7.92 billion kyats were seized in Thazi Township while being transported from Taunggyi to Yangon, Myanmar’s police force said.

A joint team including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force stopped and searched a Nissan 12-wheel truck near Kwetetsone village in Thazi Township at around 11:30 pm. on August 22, acting on a tip-off, police said.

The search uncovered 5.28 million stimulant tablets, with an estimated value of 7.92 billion kyats, aboard the vehicle. The truck was being driven by Htet Aung, with Toe Tet Aung travelling as a passenger.

A follow-up investigation identified Khun Ye Htut, also known as Ye Htut, a resident of Ward 3 in Aungpan, as the person who allegedly arranged for the stimulant tablets to be transported from Taunggyi to Yangon, police said.

Khun Ye Htut remains at large, according to police.
