A 90-day drug rehabilitation and recovery training course opened in Myawaddy on August 5, with the aim of helping drug users overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

The opening ceremony was held at around 10:30 am. at the Disaster Management Department office in Ward 5, Myawaddy. The course is being organized by the Kayin State branch of the Drug User Rehabilitation Association (Myanmar).

Speaking at the ceremony, U Ye Lin Maung, chairman of the Myawaddy District Administration and Development Council, welcomed the participants and said they would be provided with vocational training to help them rebuild their lives. Relevant departments would also provide necessary support, he said.

U Kyaw San Oo, chairman of the association’s Kayin State branch, said the 90-day program would provide training focused on participants’ mental and physical well-being as well as vocational skills.

Those interested in joining the rehabilitation program can contact the association through their ward administration offices or directly at its office in Nyi Paung Yae Thit Village, he said. Today, 29 young men and women and 1 woman, who wants to change their lives attend the training and learn life skills to advance their lives.

The ceremony was attended by Myawaddy, district, township and departmental officials, invited guests, ward administrators, and trainees.
