The Ministry of Electricity and Energy announced on July 30 that a new QR code for purchasing fuel will be issued to vehicle owners whose vehicle registration numbers have been fraudulently used by others to purchase fuel.

Vehicle owners whose vehicle registration numbers have been fraudulently used by others to purchase fuel must apply to Petroleum Products Regulatory Department and the Regional and State Supervision and Inspection Officer offices for a new QR code for purchasing fuel with the following documents: (a) Original certificate from the relevant Road Transport Administration Department confirming that the vehicle registration certificate is genuine, (b) Copy of the vehicle registration certificate in colour, (c) Copy of the vehicle owner’s registration in colour, (d) Vehicle owner’s address (township, region/state) and contact number, (e) Evidence of purchasing fuel at other shops using the vehicle registration number (date, time, shop name, etc.).

If the application is submitted with this information, a new QR code will be issued after verification by the regional/state inspection officer offices.

After the new QR code is issued, the vehicle will not be allowed to purchase fuel using the barcode on the vehicle registration certificate or the QR code issued by the fuel station, but only the newly issued QR code.

The Ministry of Electricity and Energy has announced that the vehicle owner will be required to take responsibility for the newly issued QR code to prevent it from being lost or damaged.
