At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a state goodwill visit to China, visited Aerospace City in Beijing on June 15 to observe China’s advancements in space science and technology.
Located in the northwestern part of Beijing’s Haidian District, Aerospace City is a key base for China’s manned space program, widely known as “Project 921.” The complex houses astronaut training facilities, mission control centers, and space technology research institutions.
Covering approximately 2.3 square kilometers, Aerospace City was established in 1998 and serves as the headquarters of the Beijing Aerospace Control Centre (BACC), the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), and the Astronaut Centre of China (ACC).
During the visit, President U Min Aung Hlaing reviewed China’s space exploration programs, satellite technology developments, astronaut training systems, and mission control operations.
Aerospace City is one of China’s main centers for managing and controlling space missions and is often compared to NASA’s mission control facilities due to its importance in the country’s space program.
