Yangon’s popular 19th Street Night Market reopened on the evening of June 9, drawing visitors back to one of the city’s best-known nightlife destinations.

The reopening ceremony began at 5 p.m. with traditional Chinese dragon dance performances along 19th Street, followed by musical entertainment by local singers.

Under the new arrangement, vendors and restaurants are no longer permitted to occupy the entire roadway as they did previously. Instead, a dedicated traffic lane has been established through the center of the street, while businesses have been allocated designated operating areas along both sides.

“Unlike before, there are no vendors in the middle of the street. A traffic lane has been set up in the center, and shops have been assigned smaller sections. We are happy that the market has reopened,” said a vendor on 19th Street.
