The second convoy transporting supplies for regional development projects in towns and villages along the Mandalay–Myitkyina route has successfully returned to Mandalay, according to sources.
The Mandalay–Madaya–Thabeikkyin–Tagaung–Htigyaing–Katha–Indaw–Mawlu–Nantsiaung–Mohnyin–Mogaung–Myitkyina communication route, which links Mandalay Region with Sagaing Region and Kachin State, was reopened on May 6 after security forces regained full control of areas that had previously been under temporary insurgent influence.
To support the restoration of government administrative functions, improve the livelihoods of local ethnic communities, and meet regional development needs, the government and the Tatmadaw organized a second shipment of essential supplies from Mandalay to Myitkyina. The convoy transported basic food commodities, consumer goods, construction materials, medicines and medical supplies, school stationery, and fuel, arriving in Myitkyina on May 31.
On its return journey, the convoy carried local products from towns and villages along the route for sale in Mandalay, as well as departmental staff and their families relocating for duty assignments and personnel attending training programs. The vehicles departed Myitkyina on June 3 and arrived back in Mandalay on the morning of June 4.
Following the reopening of the Mandalay–Myitkyina route through the efforts of the government and the Tatmadaw, the transportation of essential supplies for regional development has resumed. Roads and bridges damaged by terrorist attacks have also been repaired, enabling passenger and cargo vehicles to travel normally along the route.
As a result, local residents have been able to resume regular travel and trade activities. Security forces, in cooperation with departmental personnel and local communities, are continuing to support reconstruction and development efforts in the region.
