The southwest monsoon has entered southern Myanmar, bringing heavy rain to Yangon on May 16.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) announced on the afternoon of May 16 that the southwest monsoon had entered southern Myanmar, the Andaman Sea and the southeastern Bay of Bengal.
Following the monsoon's arrival, Yangon Region experienced heavy rainfall throughout the day.
According to the Myanmar Fire Services Department (MFSD), a tree fell on Mya Sabae Road in Shwe Nant Thar Village, Mingalardon Township, and firefighters from the Mingalardon Township Fire Station were deployed to clear the obstruction.
The DMH had forecast that the southwest monsoon would enter southern Myanmar between May 13 and 18, the delta region between May 19 and 24, central Myanmar between May 25 and 30, and northern Myanmar between May 31 and June 5.
