Daytime temperatures set to rise across multiple regions over next two days: DMH

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise over the next two days in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Tanintharyi, Kayah, Kayin and Mon, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Weather is generally fair over the North Bay and Central Bay of Bengal and a few clouds to partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kachin State and isolated in upper Sagaing, Taninthayi regions and northern Shan State. Degree of certainty is 80%. Weather will be generally fair weather in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago regions and Kayah State and partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.

The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur.

Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 3-5 feet off and along Myanmar coasts. During the next two days, daytime temperatures are likely to increase slightly in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Tanintharyi regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states.

During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kachin State and isolated in Mandalay Region and northern Shan State. Weather is generally fair in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawady regions and Kayah State and the rest of the regions and states are partly cloudy.

Daytime temperatures were 3°C above the average for April in upper Sagaing and Tanintharyi regions, and 2°C above the average for April in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, lower Sagaing, Ayeyawady regions, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states, while the remaining regions and states were around the average temperature for April.

The exceptional daytime temperatures recorded on April 1 were 43.2°C in Minbu, 42.1°C in Magway, 42°C in Sinphyukyun, 41.1°C in Taungoo, 41°C each in Myingyan, NyaungU, Pyay, Myinmu and Hintada, and 40.8°C in Yamethin and Chauk.
