The Ministry of Education is drafting structured vocational education pathways for students who failed Grade-12 examinations and those who completed Grade-9 but did not continue to upper secondary school, Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein said.

The remarks were made during a coordination meeting held on February 18 at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw. The meeting focused on developing a vocational education framework aligned with the national education system to support human resource development, expand employment opportunities, and nurture sector-specific skilled professionals. Discussions also included plans to systematically compile and maintain records related to education reforms.

The Union Minister said a dedicated committee will be formed to develop the vocational education framework and document ongoing education reform initiatives. The committee will include permanent secretaries and directors-general from relevant ministries, along with responsible officials from the Ministry of Education, to coordinate and implement future plans.

She added that in designing learning pathways for Grade-12 unsuccessful candidates and further education opportunities for those who completed Grade-9 but did not pursue high school education, the Ministry of Education has collaborated with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

In addition, she said that the education reforms being implemented in education, such as Job Ready Skills, industry, agriculture, and livestock subjects, are being implemented starting from Grade-10. The relevant ministries are to compile and write the reforms carried out in education over the past five years. When writing the chart and report by ministries, a record book should be compiled to document the state government's education reforms and the provision of employment opportunities in line with the education standards. Records of notable reforms in the education sector and the creation of employment opportunities must be compiled.

Then, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint explained the formation of a committee to draw a vocational level chart that is consistent with the education system and to prepare and maintain a record book, and the responsibilities of the committee. The Permanent Secretary and officials discussed the activities of each ministry, the points to be considered in drawing a vocational level chart that is consistent with the education system, and the points to be considered in drawing a record book.
