Three young men who went missing while swimming at a recreation site in eastern Shan State have yet to be found after four days of searching, according to U Hla Moe from a local social assistance group in Tachileik.

The incident occurred at around 2:17 p.m. on February 13 at a sandy stream area in San Phu Village, part of the Mong Phone village tract. The site, located along the Mekong River and locally known as “Thaechuang,” is a popular spot for recreation.

The three youths, all matriculation students, were reportedly swimming during the school holidays when they drowned and went missing.

Search operations have been ongoing since February 13, with joint efforts by local rescue organizations including the U Hla Moe Funeral Assistance Association, Shwe Mae Yan Association, and the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

Local residents have raised concerns that the sandy stream area is highly dangerous and unsuitable for public visits, with some calling for restrictions on access.
