Myanma Railways (MR) will start selling train tickets online through the Online Railways Ticketing and Payment (ORTP) system from February 1, according to the Myanma Railways.
The Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Communications is preparing to implement the ORTP to make it easier for train passengers to purchase train tickets.
The system will be piloted on the Yangon-Mandalay railway section on February 7 on the No.11 Up aFind contentnd No.12 Down Yangon-Mandalay-Yangon passenger express train, No.7 Up and No.8 Down Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon DEMU express train, No.31 Up and 32 Down Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon DEMU express trains and No.27 Up and 28 Down Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay passenger express trains from February 1.
Tickets for passenger express trains on the Yangon–Mandalay railway line can be bought up to seven days in advance for full-route travel and up to three days in advance for intermediate stations. Train schedules, stopping stations, and ticket fares remain unchanged.
To use the system, the passengers can open it on any browser they want and click on the link ortp.railways.gov.mm to easily access the system. In addition, they can also scan the QR Code created for easy access to the system with the mobile phone. The step-by-step information program on how to use the system and the link and QR code to access the system have been announced on Myanma Television, state-owned newspapers, the Myanma Railways website and stations.
If passengers have any difficulty purchasing tickets online, they can also visit the relevant stations and ticket offices, and purchase using the system.
