According to a statement from the Anti-Narcotics Police Force, drugs, weapons, and related materials worth over Ks 1,761 billion were seized across Myanmar in 2025, along with the discovery of one opium refinery and two synthetic drug manufacturing sites.

Treating anti-drug operations as a national duty, joint task forces comprising the Myanmar Armed Forces, Myanmar Police Force, Customs Department, and relevant agencies carried out nationwide intelligence-led crackdowns. As a result, 5,370 drug-related caseswere recorded in 2025, leading to the arrest of 7,562 suspects and the seizure of narcotics valued at Ks 1,761.324 billion. Confiscated items included over 1 tonne of raw opium, 2.1 tonnes of heroin, more than 377 million methamphetamine tablets, 37.8 tonnes of ICE, 1.5 tonnes of poppy husk, 204 kg of Happy Water, and over 15 tonnes of ketamine, along with other illicit drugs. Authorities also seized weapons and explosives, including 2 M-16 rifles, 40 pistols, 2 shotguns, 2,764 rounds of ammunition, 5 hand grenades, and 187,400 detonators.

In addition, large quantities of illegally imported controlled chemicals used in drug production were confiscated, including 22.7 tonnes of caffeine, 960 liters of acetone, over 5,040 liters of toluene, 5 tonnes of ammonium chloride, over 2 tonnes of sodium cyanide, and other chemicals such as sodium carbonate, acetic acid, and nitric acid. Law enforcement also dismantled one opium refinery near Pontat Village in Mongyai Township, northern Shan State, and two synthetic drug production sites near Monghae (Lower) Village in Tachileik Township, eastern Shan State, along with tablet-pressing machines seized from a house in Wankhaungmon Village.

Furthermore, during the 2025–2026 poppy cultivation season, joint teams destroyed a total of 5,084.5 acres (2,057.66 hectares) of poppy fields in southern and eastern Shan State, and eradication efforts are ongoing, the statement said.
