The successful implementation of paper production will reduce imports from abroad and reduce foreign exchange expenditure, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services during an inspection visit to the Thar Paung Paper and Pulp Mill of Myanmar Economic Corporation on the evening of January 9.
The country imports various types of paper for domestic needs from abroad every year, and thus, the successful implementation of paper production will reduce imports from abroad and reduce foreign exchange expenditure, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Planting wood and bamboo to meet the demand for industrial raw materials such as wood and bamboo will help preserve the environment and create job opportunities for local people, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The availability of pulp, which is the basic requirement for paper production, is important and we need to continue our efforts to produce high-quality paper, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Then, the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services and members inspected the status of the bamboo pulp production plant, the stages of grinding, steam distillation, bleaching and pulp production processes, the stages of high-grade paper production at the 50-ton high-grade paper mill and the high-grade paper produced, the stages of newsprint production at the 60-ton newsprint mill, and the stages of fuel pellet production at the pellet plant, and gave necessary instructions based on the presentations of the officials.
