The Myanmar Passport Authority Board announced that those on the blacklist, those released on parole, and civil servants in service can apply for the express passport service only after making inquiry to avoid losing money.
Those who need to travel abroad urgently can apply for the express service, which will cost 545,000 kyats including the cost of the passport book, the Myanmar Passport Authority Board announced on January 1.
In order to obtain the express service, those on the blacklist, those who have committed crimes and have not completed the investigation, those released on parole before the end of their sentence, those who are prevented from leaving the country, those who need citizenship verification, civil servants in service, government organizations, other non-governmental organizations, and private organizations need to apply only after verification in the offices to avoid losing money.
It is planned that those who need to travel abroad for urgent reasons can apply for the express service without having to wait for online bookings and in-office procedures.
Applicants using the express service will receive their passports within five days of receiving their applications, and the service fee is 545,000 kyats, including the cost of the passport book. The express service will start on January 5, the Myanmar Passport Authority Board announced.
Previously, those who needed to travel abroad for important and urgent health and education issues had to apply through the green channel, but the express service that will be provided will be available within a few days.
When applying through the green channel, those who need to travel abroad on time for important and urgent health and education issues are screened to obtain passports quickly with valid documents.
In addition, MoU workers, religious organizations, cultural exchanges, sailors, those who will travel abroad on leave, travel agencies for tourism development, scholars, and those who will travel on government matters according to the relevant ministry must submit complete and accurate information, signed and approved by the relevant ministry’s Director General level and above officials, and through these ministries to the Chairman of the Myanmar Passport Authority Board.
When applying for a new passport, the applicant needs to pay 45,000 kyats and 101,000 kyats if you are applying for a lost or damaged passport, and 145 dollars if you lost the passport abroad.
