China and Myanmar discussed measures to combat online fraud, including the rejection of foreign interference in online fraud, the Ministry of Information announced.

A delegation led by Mr Liu Zhongyi, Assistant Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on Union Minister of Home Affairs, Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung, at Office No. 38, Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of December 12.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the need for coordination between the two countries and regional countries in combating online scams, the rejection of foreign interference in the name of online scams, China's support for the work of the Central Committee for the Supervision of Combating Online Fraud and Online Gambling, and the need for cooperation and rapid implementation, the Ministry of Information announced.

In addition, the delegation led by Mr Liu Zhongyi and the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Maj. Gen. Aung Kyaw Kyaw continued to hold open and frank discussions on security and law enforcement cooperation between Myanmar and China, combating online scams and online gambling in border areas, searching for and rescuing Chinese citizens and handing them over in accordance with procedures, and the draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Muse-Dehong district-level police forces on transnational crimes. Delegations from Myanmar and China will visit Myawady to observe the ongoing fight against online scams, the Ministry of Information announced.
