Thai authorities arrested 53 undocumented Myanmar nationals, including a two-year-old child, in Thaong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, according to Thai media reports.

On the night of September 15, around 10 p.m. local time, officials discovered four suspicious vehicles parked with lights off inside a monastery compound in Thakhanun Subdistrict. When approached, one driver fled in a vehicle, two others escaped on foot, and another ran into nearby forest.

Upon inspecting the remaining vehicles, police found 53 Myanmar nationals, including the toddler, crowded inside. Investigations revealed that they had entered Thailand illegally through the Phayathonezu border area and were waiting to be transported to a prearranged location within Kanchanaburi.

Reports said each migrant had paid brokers between 15,000 and 20,000 baht depending on travel distance.

The arrested individuals were sent to Thaong Pha Phum police station for legal action, while authorities pledged to track down the vehicle owners and other accomplices involved.
