According to reports from Thailand, a total of 39 undocumented Myanmar nationals were arrested by Thai authorities in Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, on the morning of September 2 around 6 a.m. local time.

The arrests took place in Village Group 3 of Ban Prangka Si and Village Group 6 of Hindat in Thong Pha Phum Township, where 27 men and 12 women were detained. Authorities also seized two vehicles used to transport them.

Upon inspection, Thai authorities found that the detainees were heading to Bangkok and other provinces for employment, traveling from Sangkhla Buri Township in two vehicles. Reports said each person was to pay between 13,000 and 15,000 Thai baht in broker fees upon reaching their arranged destinations.

The arrested migrants were transferred to Thong Pha Phum Township police station for legal action under Thai law, according to Thai news agencies.

Reports further noted that more than 280 undocumented Myanmar nationals had been arrested in Kanchanaburi Province during August alone.
