Over 5,000 complaints filed with Anti-Corruption Commission in past four years

According to a statement by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), more than 5,000 complaints were filed with the commission in the four years from 2021 to 2024, following political changes.

According to the statement, in 2021, when the political change occurred, there were 1,334 complaints received by the commission, 1,426 complaints in 2022, 1,217 complaints in 2023, and 1,225 complaints in 2024, bringing the total number of complaints received to 5,202 in four years.

The commission announced that out of 1,225 complaints filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2024, 814 were resolved.

Of the remaining 411 complaints, 44 are still being investigated and are being investigated. The commission said there were 368 complaints that could not be taken action because they were not in accordance with the law.

There were 10 complaints forwarded by the State Administration Council, Union Ministers, and regional and state governments, and 1,052 complaints addressed to the commission.

Among the complaints, 67 current political office holders, 23 high-ranking officials, 101 civil servants, 86 officials, 18 public servants and 53 other individuals were taken action in accordance with the Anti-Corruption Law, and 3,030 civil servants were taken action in accordance with the Civil Service Personnel Law, according to the commission.

It is also reported that there is over 27.33 billion kyats in public funds that can be saved and returned, and over 156 billion kyats in protection.
