According to a statement by the Drug Enforcement Police Force, narcotics and weapons worth more than 1.18 billion Kyats were seized in Tachileik, a town in Eastern Shan State.

On April 19 at around 3:30 p.m., officers conducted a sting operation based on intelligence and apprehended four suspects — Nyi Kat @ LawNa, Aikpa Leik, Sam Chin, and Sai Kham — on Bogyoke Street in Wainkyauk Ward, Tachileik. The suspects were caught in possession of 602,000 methamphetamine tablets along with three vehicles: a Vigo, Lexus, and Crown.

Further investigations led to a raid the same night around 11 p.m. at the residence of another suspect, Hway Htar, located in Yan Aung Myay Ward. Authorities uncovered: 2.45 kg of brown opium bricks, 6 kg of crystal meth (ICE), 28,000 meth tablets, 28.5 kg of raw opium, 100 kg of caffeine, 18 WY-brand tablet molds used for drug production, 3 pistols and 728 rounds of assorted ammunition and 3 more vehicles.

In total, the seized narcotics, firearms, and related equipment were valued at over 1.18 billion Kyats.

The arrested suspects are being prosecuted under relevant laws. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover others involved in the drug trafficking network.

Additionally, the financial gains and properties obtained through the drug trade may be subject to confiscation under Myanmar’s Anti-Money Laundering Law, the Drug Enforcement Police stated.
