The State Administration Council (SAC) has issued Order No. 30/2025, granting pardons to 4,893 inmates across various prisons and detention centers.

The amnesty, enacted under Section 401(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code, took effect on Myanmar New Year’s Day and is aimed at encouraging the reintegration of former prisoners into society and promoting their involvement in nation-building efforts.

However, the pardon comes with a strict condition: if any of the released individuals commit another offense, they will be required to serve the remainder of their previous sentence in addition to any new punishment imposed.
