The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has warned that some areas, including the earthquake-hit Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay and Sagaing, may experience unseasonal rain.
The DMH has issued a weather advisory stating that the rain may occur due to the interaction of warm air from the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal with cold air moving from the high-pressure area over mainland China, the acceleration of whirlwinds moving from the east, and the development of thermal clouds.
Due to these conditions, from the night of April 11 to April 17, rains or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyawady and Tanintharyi regions, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states, along with isolated heavy fall in some areas.
Residents are urged to stay alert for unexpected heavy rain and strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning strikes, hailstorms and landslides, announced the DMH.
