Myanmar, in cooperation with China and Thailand, has intensified its crackdown on telecom fraud and online scams, leading to the deportation of 379 Chinese nationals involved in such activities. The deportees were handed over to Chinese authorities via the Myanmar-Thailand No. 2 Friendship Bridge on March 20, following legal procedures and humanitarian considerations.

The deportation process was supervised by Myanmar's Karen State government, with Minister of Security and Border Affairs Colonel Min Thu Kyaw ensuring a smooth transfer. Chinese representatives, led by Deputy Director-General Liu Ning Ning from the Ministry of Public Security, and Thai immigration officials were also present. Official handover documents were exchanged between the relevant authorities.

Additionally, Myanmar detained 253 foreign nationals—133 Chinese and 120 Ethiopians—who had entered the Myawaddy region illegally. Authorities are currently processing their identification and preparing for their repatriation.

Since January 30, Myanmar has detained 7,616 foreign nationals who entered the country illegally. Of these, 4,950 have already been repatriated via Thailand, while the remaining 2,666 are awaiting transfer. Authorities continue to process their cases while ensuring proper care.
