
The Myanmar Embassy in South Korea has announced that it is working to provide compensation for a Myanmar national injured in a live-fire military exercise by the South Korean air force.
The injured person is U Myint Kyi, a Myanmar national, and is receiving treatment at the Military Hospital in Seongnam city, Gyeonggi Province.
Ambassador U Thant Zin of the Myanmar Embassy in South Korea visited U Myint Kyi, who is receiving treatment, on March 12, to inquire about his injuries and treatment, provide him with food, encourage him, and provide him with necessary assistance, according to the press release.
In addition, the Ambassador met with Colonel Ka Joon Song of the South Korean Air Force Headquarters and Ms Kim Soo Jung, Deputy Planning and Management Officer of the South Korean Military Hospital, at the Military Hospital to provide the injured Myanmar national with necessary assistance and care, and to provide him with compensations and benefits under the Insurance Law in accordance with the procedures and regulations.

The incident occurred at around 10 am local time in the town of Pocheon, about 25 kilometers (16 miles) south of the North Korean border.
The incident injured 29 people, including 15 civilians and 14 soldiers, according to South Korean media reports.
