Myanmar will steadfastly uphold the multi-party democratic system desired by the people, as it is a proven political success, according to State Administration Council spokesperson Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.
Speaking during Myanmar’s official visit to Russia and Belarus, led by State Administration Council (SAC) Chairman and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Zaw Min Tun highlighted Myanmar’s political, economic, and social progress. He stated that Russia and Belarus had reaffirmed their support for Myanmar’s international standing and upcoming elections, expected between late December and mid-January.
On economic ties, he noted Myanmar’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and industry, learning from Belarus despite its smaller land area and harsher climate. Agreements were signed to enhance technology transfer and fertilizer supply. Additionally, Russia agreed to cooperate on Myanmar’s deep-sea port project, inviting other international partners.
Zaw Min Tun emphasized the role of youth in national development, urging them to take responsibility for peace and progress. He underscored the need for balance between youth-driven ambition and the cautious approach of experienced leaders, a principle observed in Russia and Belarus.
