The State Administration Council’s (SAC) information team has announced that authorities have identified and detained 231 more foreign nationals who illegally entered the Shwe Koko and KK Park areas in Myawady. This action is part of an ongoing effort to combat online fraud and related crimes in border areas.

According to the SAC’s statement on February 16, joint teams from various departments are collecting the necessary personal information and records of the detainees for their immediate repatriation to their respective countries.

Between January 30 and February 16, 2025, a total of 1,030 foreign nationals who had illegally entered Myanmar were identified and detained. Among them, 61 have already been transferred to Thailand through legal procedures, while the remaining 969 are awaiting repatriation under government supervision.

The SAC’s statement also revealed that most of the detained individuals were involved in online fraud and illegal online gambling operations. Among the detainees, statements from three Chinese nationals and one Thai national were specifically included, indicating their involvement in online game advertising and fraudulent activities.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to effectively suppressing illegal online activities and ensuring the swift deportation of detained foreign nationals.
