On the afternoon of January 8, a pilgrim vehicle crashed into a ravine on Mandalay Mountain Road, injuring 17 people. The accident occurred at around 2:30 pm. near the second bend of the road in Uputtaw Ward, Aung Myay Tharzan Township, Mandalay Region.

The vehicle, a white light truck carrying pilgrims returning from a monastery visit, reportedly lost control due to speed and plunged into the ravine. Emergency responders, including teams from the Aung Myay Tharzan Township Fire Station, were quickly dispatched to the scene.

The Myanmar Fire Service confirmed that 17 people—6 males and 11 females—sustained injuries, though none of the injuries were reported as serious. The injured were promptly transported to Mandalay General Hospital by ambulances from the Nandawshaet Social Assistance Association and the Hnalone Hla Social Assistance Association for medical treatment.
