Myanmar-Singapore bilateral trade exceeded $906 million during the April-June period of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Commerce. Of this, Singapore imported over $879 million worth of goods, while Myanmar’s exports amounted to $26.863 million.
This recent trade data reflects a strong import volume from Singapore, consistent with historical trends. For instance, during the first six months of the 2021-2022 fiscal year (Mini Budget), bilateral trade reached $1.721 billion, with Singapore importing over $1.602 billion, while Myanmar’s exports totaled $119.51 million.
Looking further back, Myanmar exported $753.495 million to Singapore during the 2017-2018 fiscal year, while imports from Singapore totaled $3.084 billion, bringing the total trade volume to $3.838 billion. Similarly, in the 2018-2019 fiscal year, Myanmar exported $344.740 million, while imports from Singapore reached $3.162 billion, resulting in a total trade volume of $3.507 billion.
In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, bilateral trade remained robust, with Myanmar exporting $753.114 million and Singapore importing $3.052 billion, for a total trade volume of $3.805 billion.
The National Export Strategy (NES) 2020-2025 has been a cornerstone for enhancing Myanmar’s trade capabilities. This strategy fosters collaboration between government departments and the private sector to create new jobs and economic opportunities for Myanmar citizens.
Additionally, from April to October of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Myanmar conducted over $3 billion in border trade, comprising approximately $2.5 billion in exports and over $510 million in imports, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce.
