Union Minister for Construction U Myo Than, accompanied by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, inspected the construction of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge on December 22.
The bridge connects Yangon and Dala, and the minister emphasized the importance of completing the project by 2025 through collaborative efforts among the relevant departments while adhering to designated procedures.
The inspection began with a review of two approach bridges along Strand Road on the Yangon side and the approach bridge along Phonegyi Road. Consultants provided updates on the progress achieved, upcoming plans, and measures to ensure the project remains on schedule.
Director General U Kyaw Kaung Cho of the Bridges Department provided further clarifications, and coordination was made to address outstanding needs and guide the work effectively.
The Union Minister then traveled by boat to inspect the main bridge’s central pylon (Pylon-1) on the Dala side, reviewing detailed construction progress and reinforcing the directive to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe.
The Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge, featuring a modern cable-stayed design, is set to become Myanmar’s highest vertical clearance bridge.
Key features include sound barriers along the Yangon approach to minimize noise, a maintenance facility for long-term durability, a toll plaza for revenue collection, and a weighbridge to monitor heavy vehicle traffic.
