Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council, emphasized the importance of selling essential basic foodstuffs at reduced prices during his inspection of No. 1 Agriculture and Livestock Farm under Yangon Command in Insein Township, Yangon Region, on November 29.

During the visit, the Senior General reviewed the farm's progress and its sale of meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, and milk to military personnel, families, war veterans, members of the Myanmar Police Force, and their families at fair prices. He also assessed the implementation of guidance he provided during a previous inspection in May 2022.

The Senior General highlighted the role of agriculture and livestock farms in Yangon Region in supplying affordable meat, fish, and vegetables to the region's population of eight million. He stressed the need to provide these products to Tatmadaw members and government service personnel at prices lower than market rates and to the general public at fair prices. Special attention, he said, should be given to supporting low-income workers, especially those in factories.

To achieve these goals, the Senior General called for coordination among the military command, Yangon Region government, the Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC), and Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Co. Ltd. He also urged for the expansion of broiler, layer, and duck farming to increase production. Lowering input and production costs, he noted, is essential to reducing prices for agricultural and livestock products.

Following discussions with farm officials, the Senior General toured the facility and provided guidance to address reported challenges.
