Between November and February, five low-pressure systems are expected to form in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with two of these potentially strengthening into minor cyclones, according to an October 28 announcement by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The forecast indicates that, during the winter season from November 2024 to February 2025, five low-pressure systems may develop in the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with two intensifying into minor cyclones. Northern parts of the Bay of Bengal may experience some cloud formation, while moderate cloud cover is expected over the Andaman Sea and the rest of the Bay of Bengal.

In terms of rainfall, Yangon Region, Ayeyawady Region, Taninthayi Region, Kayin State, and Mon State may see higher-than-average precipitation. In Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Bago Region, Kachin State, Shan State, Chin State, Rakhine State, and Kayah State, rainfall is likely to be around average.

As for nighttime temperatures, Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Kachin State, and Shan State (north and south) and Kayah State may experience temperatures around 1.5 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average. In Bago Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyawady Region, Taninthayi Region, Shan State (east), Chin State, Rakhine State, Kayin State, and Mon State, average seasonal temperatures are expected.

The department also noted that fog may frequently appear in coastal, highland, and mountainous areas throughout the winter season, with increased fog density in these regions.
