There may be heavy rain and strong winds in some areas from October 19 to 24 due to the speed of the whirlwinds that may move from the Gulf of Thailand and the development of the thermal clouds, announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

Due to the speed of the whirlwinds that may move from the Gulf of Thailand, the low pressure cell that may develop in the Andaman Sea and the speed of the low pressure area that may develop in the Bay of Bengal and the development of the thermal clouds, rains and thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Tanintharyi regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon states from October 19 to 24 with regionally heavy falls and isolated rainfalls in some areas along with heavy winds in places.

In addition, natural disasters such as strong winds, flash floods and landslides accompanied by heavy rain can occur and those live near the highlands are at risk of landslides and people who live near small rivers and small streams need to be cautious as floods may occur. The DMH has issued a notification in advance and to alert domestic shipping and aviation.
