The Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC) reported that two monks were killed in a homemade rocket attack carried out by members of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Bhamo Township, Kachin State.

The attack, which occurred in the afternoon of August 12, targeted the Dhama Pala Lwepaw monastery in Myoma Ward. The explosion resulted in the deaths of two monks on the spot, while nine others, including monks, novices, and civilians, were wounded. 

The injured were transported by a social welfare organization to Bhamo People’s Hospital, according to the SAC.
