Clashes broke out on August 10 in the town of Natogyi, Mandalay Region, and it was learned that some residents were trapped in the town.

It is known that there has been a fight since the night of August 9 in Natogyi, and at about 5:30 am on August 10, the government offices and security stations in the town of Natogyi were attacked by PDF and joint groups.

According to sources, a fight broke out around the city police station in Natogyi, causing the security forces to withdraw temporarily and some government offices were also burned down. Although the PDF claims that they have been able to control the town, it is difficult to confirm due to the ground conditions, and the fighting is intense, and the locals are unable to travel in the city due to the fighting.

In addition, the PDFs also attacked with homemade rockets in the towns of Myingyan and Taungtha, which are connected to the area of Natogyi.

It is also reported that the fighting was temporarily calm in the evening as the Tatmadaw retaliated with aerial support in the town of Natogyi.

A local close to the security forces also said that the PDF has not controlled the town of Natogyi at present.

"There was a homemade rocket attack in Myingyan but not on the city. I don't know where it fell. I heard a voice. In the morning, the PDFs cut down trees on the road between Myingyan and Natogyi, blocking the road. Of course, they attacked Natogyi in the morning. As usual, the government offices were burnt down in the town. Now the situation is stable. They haven’t controlled the city yet. I heard that they have casualties. Some said that even the Myittha PDFs were also retracted. They fight together," said the local.

In addition, it is reported that the residents of the town of Natogyi are only living in their homes, and there are also people who have fled to Mandalay.

"I came out at the time of the battle and came to Mandalay. The other people said they couldn't leave. The battle is intense. I saw that the bank had been burned. The army also fired from the air. Some of them were hiding in their houses, while others were left without knowing that they were left behind the city," said a local who fled the war to Mandalay.

The town of Natogyi is only 16 miles away from the Yangon-Mandalay highway and is located near the mile post 326 of the highway.

“It can be said that the PDFs have been dominating since the beginning in Natogyi. They have been doing mine attacks on the highway mainly from nearby places. They are now trying to seize Natogyi in order to put pressure on Mandalay. Their purpose is to cut off the Yangon-Mandalay highway and gain a military advantage. I think they attack Natogyi to stop military reinforcements from Meiktila to help the army in TadaU,” a military observer said.

In addition, Natogyi is located about 19 miles from Myingyan and Taungtha, and 64 miles away from Mandalay.
