The Union Election Commission (UEC) has cancelled the applications of New Society Party (NSP) and Zomi Congress for Democracy Party for Political Parties Registration Law on August 5.
According to the review of the ministries concerned regarding the applications of the New Society Party (NSP) and Zomi Congress for Democracy Party for the right to continue as political parties and registration under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the Election Commission found that the parties are contrary to the stipulations in Section 6 of the Political Parties Registration Law.
UEC cancelled the applications of the parties in accordance with the decision of the Union Election Commission Plenary Meeting 16/2024 under Form G of the Political Parties Registration Rules on 5 August.
UEC also cancelled the registration of People’s Strength Party on July 22, Kachin National Congress Party, Democracy and Human Rights Party on July 8, Rakhine National Party on July 1, Democracy Party on May 7, Chin People’s Party on May 14, and Union Development Party on May 21.
