The international community, including the countries that are witnesses to the NCA inking, should intervene to resolve Myanmar's political crisis, announced the six ethnic armed groups that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

This statement was made by the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), KNU-Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army Peace Council (KNU/KNLA PC), Lahu Democratic Union (LDU), Pa-Oh National Liberation Organization (PNLO) and Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS).

The fact that all the ethnic armed organizations were not allowed to sign the NCA treaty based on the principle of inclusiveness was a weakness of the peace process, and despite the gradual implementation of the NCA treaty in recent times, the expected results were not achieved. Since February 2021, the political situation has undergone a major change, and the ability to implement the NCA has completely ceased. Armed conflicts are also growing day by day. As they are unable to implement the original NCA provisions, they are still making consistent efforts to hold on to the principles of solving the current political crisis, to free the public from various crisis, solving political problems through political means using the three essences of NCA, and holding meaningful political discussions involving all stakeholders and protecting civilians, it said.

Efforts made by the international community, including ASEAN, to overcome Myanmar's political crisis have not yet progressed. If the current political problems are not solved as soon as possible and a federal democratic union cannot be built, the country will not be able to develop, armed conflicts will expand which may be affected the stability, development and trade of neighboring countries. Therefore, they urged that the international community, including the countries that are witnesses to the NCA inking, should intervene to resolve the political crisis in Myanmar, according to the statement of the six NCA EAO groups.

On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the signing of the NCA, they urge all relevant officials and relevant organizations to develop a political environment in which political problems can be resolved, to release all those detained, and to stop the current violent conflict and resolve the political crisis they are facing in a peaceful way, it said.
