Because of extreme monsoon winds, there could be heavy rains, strong winds, flash floods and landslides in the various regions and states of Myanmar from September 11 to 15, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has reported.

According to the forecast, between September 11 and 15, the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal were strengthened by strong monsoon winds and the pace of winds moving from the east. In the western part of the country, widespread thunderstorms are likely in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi, Rakhine, Kayin, and Mon. In some places, rainfalls are likely to be scattered with strong winds and heavy rains.

Similarly, along the coast of Myanmar and in the coastal seas, torrential rains and waves will occasionally fall. It is reported that winds can reach up to 40 miles per hour, and the waves can be about nine to 12 feet in height along the coast of Myanmar and off the coast.

For this reason, strong monsoon winds can strengthen and the pace of winds moving eastward, along with heavy rains, such as strong winds, flash floods, and landslides. The DMH warns people living near the highlands to be aware of the dangers of landslides and floods as people living near small rivers and rivers.
