Humanitarian assistance for cyclone MOCHA victims arrives from Russia

A cargo plane carrying humanitarian assistance from the Russian Federation for Mocha victims landed at Yangon International Airport on the early morning of September 9.

Included in the relief supplies that arrived yesterday were 13.95 tonnes of preserved fish, 10.5 tonnes of macaroni, 2.9 tonnes of 25 tents (10-person group) and a mobile electric power station (2.8 tonnes).

The handing-over ceremony was held at 9:00 am on that day. It was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Ministers for States and Regions, Disaster Management Department of Yangon Region, Mr. Andrei Lunak from Russian embassy and officials concerned.

Afterwards, Mr. Andrei Lunak explained that assistances made by the Russian Federation. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein spoke words of thanks. Director U Than Soe of the Disaster Management Department of Yangon Region and Mr. Andrei Khomenko from Emercom signed the documents. Later, those present checked the supplies.
